The Bourbon Smash


Hyperbole alert: the Bourbon Smash is my favorite shaken whiskey cocktail. It’s a Mint Julep meets the Whiskey Sour, but with one key adjustment: muddled lemon wedges, which add a sharp citric bite that takes the drink from tasty to exceptionally delicious. Also on the page are 4 smash variations, featuring summery ingredients like basil, peach, ginger, and chamomile. And of course, there’s history. This time I actually contacted the drink’s creator, Dale DeGroff himself, and it turned into a 1500 word exposé. Once again, my obsession with detail knows no limits.
