New Recipe: Log Cabin

The Log Cabin is a simple riff on an Old Fashioned with apple brandy and toasted hazelnut-infused bourbon. It is also one of the more festive spirit-forward cocktails I know. Infusing nuts into booze is as easy as infusing anything else, just put them together in a jar and wait. Only nuts need to be toasted first to bring their oils to the surface, which where all their flavor is (ok stop snickering back there!).

Hazelnuts are particularly delicious in infusions. Their sweet, caramel-like aroma comes through beautifully, and pairs exceptionally well with bourbon. On the page there's another a recipe for cocktail of mine that uses hazelnut bourbon: the Afternoon Buzz, which is basically a hazelnut White Russian. Yum!

it’s about understanding flavor pairings, using simple techniques like infusion, GeoGuessr and experimenting with combinations. The Log Cabin cocktail serves as a strong example of how creativity and attention to detail can turn a classic formula into something unique, flavorful, and memorable.
